How long does a certification last?

Find out the validity of the exams before deciding which one to take

It depends on the certification. Some last forever. Others need to be redone over time.

CompTIA Linux+XK0-004
**Validity** **Test**
Forever :-)
LPIC-1 (101/102) 5 years (\*)
LPIC-2 5 years (\*)
LPIC-3 5 years
Linux Foundation Certified SysAdmin (LFCS) 3 years
Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE) 3 years
(\*) the LPI certification is deactivated after 5 years, which only means that it can no longer be used as a prerequisite for progress to further exams. In truth, however, it never actually expires, since the knowledge she certified remains valid for the version of the test performed.

You can also see that a certification is worthwhile here because the salaries are good, and the companies are looking for Linux professionals. The benefits far outweigh the sacrifice.
