Uirá’s journey began in 1995 with the founding of his own BBS, Magic Way BBS, and continued with pioneering work in Linux and Internet technologies during the early days of the web in Brazil. His passion for Linux was ignited when he built his own router with Linux to support his BBS with a 128kbs Internet link—a rare feat at the time!
After selling his BBS to Prointernet, Uirá’s expertise took him to Lucent Technologies, where he worked on cutting-edge Voice Over IP projects in the US and Chile. In 2003, he developed one of the first Virtual Learning Environments in Brazil, paving the way for his educational ventures.
His entrepreneurial spirit and technological prowess led him to develop tools like the University’s Virtual Secretariat and other innovative solutions during his tenure as Technology Director for the Universo/Unitri group.
