How is the LPIC 102 test?

This test is the second test required to obtain the LPI LPIC-1 certificate.

This exam is usually denser and more complex than exam 101 and covers much of the administration of Linux systems.

Exam 102 checks basic skills on six topics:

Topic 105: Shell, Shell Script, and Data Management: In this topic the candidate for The exam needs to know how to customize the Shell environment, write short scripts and also perform small operations to enter, modify, delete, and search for data in MySQL. It represents 17% of the test.

Topic 106: User Interface: This topic makes it known that it is necessary to install and configure the X11 graphical interface, configuring a window manager and basic knowledge of accessibility. It represents 8% of the test.

Topic 107: Administrative Tasks: Here the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in managing accounts and user groups, automating administrative tasks, and dealing with the internationalization of the system. It represents 20% of the test.

Topic 108: Essential System Services: In this topic it is necessary to demonstrate the ability to maintain system time, configure the LOG system, configure an e-mail sending system, and manage printers. It represents 17% of the test.

Topic 109: Fundamentals and Network Services: This is the most complex topic of the test and requires good knowledge of the network and protocols of the TCP/IP stack, as well as configuring network interfaces, route tables, diagnostic tools, DNS clients, and also good notions of IPv6. It represents 23% of the test.

Topic 110: Security and Cryptography: The last topic requires the candidate to demonstrate skills in auditing and configuring good security practices on Linux, secure connections with SSH, and data encryption with GnuPG. It represents 15% of the test.

This exam is not intended to ask double-interpreted or mean questions, but its level of difficulty is higher than exam 101.
